Prompts

Ask your agent to…

Copy any prompt, paste it into your AI tool, and get an answer from your live Baremetrics data.

“What's our MRR today, and how has it changed over the last 6 months?”

“Show our retention cohorts for the last 6 months. Which signup month kept customers best?”

“List every customer who churned in the last 30 days, with their plan and MRR.”

“Who are our 10 customers with the highest LTV?”

“Which customers upgraded this quarter, and which plans did they move to?”

“Compare our customer churn rate this quarter to last quarter.”

“Which plan brings in the most revenue, and which is growing fastest?”

“What's our current ARPU and LTV, and how have they trended this year?”

“Summarize our key metrics in 5 bullets I can paste into Slack.”

…and keep following the thread.

Every answer raises the next question. With your metrics inside your AI tool, you can keep digging in the same conversation, without rebuilding a report or switching tabs.

From a top-line number to a real answer in four questions.

FAQ

Questions

What is the Baremetrics MCP?

The Baremetrics MCP is a read-only MCP server that connects Baremetrics to AI tools like Claude, Cursor and Codex. Once it's connected, you can ask your AI tool about your MRR, churn, LTV and customers in plain English and get answers from your live Baremetrics data.

What is an MCP server?

An MCP server is a small service that gives an AI tool a safe, structured way to read data from another product. The Model Context Protocol is the shared standard those tools use. The Baremetrics MCP server exposes your Baremetrics metrics over that standard, so your AI tool can answer questions about them without you exporting anything.

What data can AI tools access through the Baremetrics MCP?

The Baremetrics MCP gives AI tools read access to 21 SaaS metrics, including MRR, ARR, ARPU, LTV, revenue churn, user churn, trial conversions and failed charges. It also covers retention cohorts, customers, subscriptions, plans, charges and account events.

Which AI tools work with the Baremetrics MCP?

The Baremetrics MCP works with four desktop AI tools: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Browser-based tools like ChatGPT and Claude.ai aren't supported yet.

Can I use the Baremetrics MCP with ChatGPT or Claude?

Not yet. The Baremetrics MCP currently works only with desktop AI tools: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Browser-based tools like ChatGPT and Claude.ai need OAuth, which Baremetrics is working on.

Does the Baremetrics MCP work with Stripe data?

Yes. The Baremetrics MCP works with Stripe data once your Stripe account is connected to Baremetrics. Your AI tool can then answer questions about the MRR, churn, LTV and customer metrics Baremetrics calculates from Stripe. If you have more than one billing source connected, such as Stripe and Braintree, it uses all of them by default, or you can ask about just one.

How do I add the Baremetrics MCP server to Claude Code?

To add the Baremetrics MCP server to Claude Code, run claude mcp add baremetrics https://app.baremetrics.com/mcp --transport http --scope user --header "Authorization: Bearer <BM_API_KEY>" in your terminal. Replace <BM_API_KEY> with your Baremetrics API key, then ask Claude Code a question about your metrics.

How do I add the Baremetrics MCP server to Cursor?

To add the Baremetrics MCP server to Cursor, add a baremetrics entry to ~/.cursor/mcp.json with the URL https://app.baremetrics.com/mcp and an Authorization header containing your Baremetrics API key. The full snippet is in the Baremetrics MCP setup guide.

Where do I find my Baremetrics API key?

Your Baremetrics API key is in Settings → API in your Baremetrics account. Live keys start with lk_. The Baremetrics MCP uses this key to connect your AI tool to your data.

Can I use the Baremetrics MCP on a free trial?

Yes. The Baremetrics MCP works on a Baremetrics free trial, so you can connect an AI tool and test it with your own data before you pay.

Do I need to code to use the Baremetrics MCP?

No. Setting up the Baremetrics MCP takes one command or a short config snippet pasted into your AI tool. After that, you ask questions in plain English.

Can the Baremetrics MCP change my data?

No. The Baremetrics MCP is read-only. AI tools connected to it can read your metrics, customers, subscriptions and charges, but they can't edit, delete or create anything in your Baremetrics account.

How accurate are AI answers from the Baremetrics MCP?

AI answers from the Baremetrics MCP are generally reliable for trends and direction because they come from your live Baremetrics data. AI tools can occasionally misread raw data, so confirm specific figures in Baremetrics before making important decisions.
