cancellation insights
Maxio can tell you a customer left. Not why.
Maxio records that a subscription cancelled. It doesn't ask why, and it doesn't make a save offer. Cancellation Insights drops into your own cancel flow and does both.

BEING HONEST
Where Maxio might be a better fit
You need ASC 606 revenue recognition
Baremetrics doesn't do revenue recognition, and won't. If audit-ready schedules are a hard requirement, Maxio is built for it — though advanced rev rec sits on quote-only Scale, not Grow.
Your billing is the actual problem
Complex contracts, usage-based pricing, mid-term amendments, manual invoicing, collections, quote-to-cash. Baremetrics reads billing; it doesn't run it. Maxio is a billing engine, and a good one.
You're already billing through Maxio
There's no native Baremetrics connector for Maxio. Bringing that data in runs through our Open API, which is about a day of engineering work. It’s worth knowing before you plan a trial.
You want one system of record
If your metrics need to trace back to an invoice and forward to a journal entry, that's Maxio's architecture. Baremetrics reads your billing accurately, but sits on top of it rather than being it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. SaaSOptics and Chargify merged in April 2022 and rebranded as Maxio, backed by $150M from Battery Ventures. The combined company reported 2,300+ customers and over $10B in ARR under management. Neither exists as a standalone brand anymore — Maxio is the current product behind both names.
Maxio is a billing platform — recurring and usage-based billing, invoicing, collections, CPQ, and ASC 606 revenue recognition. You migrate your billing into it. Baremetrics connects to the billing you already run and delivers SaaS metrics, forecasting, failed-payment recovery, and cancellation insights. Only one of them replaces your billing stack.
Maxio publishes one price: Grow at $599/month for companies billing up to $100,000 monthly. Above that, Scale is quote-based — and advanced revenue management, expense amortization, metering and rating, and multi-entity support aren't on the $599 plan at all. Baremetrics starts at $49/month; Recover and Cancellation Insights are $129/month each.
No. If compliant recognition schedules are a hard requirement, Maxio is built for that and we'll say so. If rev rec is a "someday" item and what you need now is metrics, forecasting, and churn recovery, get in touch.
Yes, though not out of the box. Maxio isn't a native Baremetrics source — bringing that data in runs through our Open API, about a day of engineering work. Teams that run both want Maxio's billing and rev rec alongside Baremetrics' cancellation insights, recovery messaging, and P&L forecasting.
Maxio is a sales-led implementation: data migration, invoice and contract mapping, GL configuration. Baremetrics is a one-click connection — authorize your payment processor and your history backfills in minutes. You can run a full trial without talking to anyone, though unlimited onboarding calls are included.
Yes — Recover, a $129/month add-on: up to seven emails you edit directly, SMS, and an in-app banner that escalates to a paywall. Maxio's dunning is also customizable, but it only works if your invoicing lives in Maxio, and branding it means HTML and Liquid. Recover runs on the billing you already have, whatever that is.
Cancellation-reason capture and reason-based save offers, which Maxio doesn't do. Runway and burn forecasting against a real P&L, not just revenue projections. Recovery messaging from their own domain. And dashboards their non-finance teammates will actually open.
