How to track MRR, churn and LTV from Stripe
Connect Stripe to Baremetrics in one click as a Stripe admin. Baremetrics imports your full customer, subscription and payment history, then syncs in real time, turning it into MRR, ARR, churn, LTV and dozens of other subscription metrics, with no spreadsheets or code.
What you get when you connect Stripe
Baremetrics reads your Stripe customers, subscriptions and transactions, checks each customer against invoices and successful payments, and calculates the metrics subscription teams track every week:
- MRR and ARR, with coupons and discounts removed so the number reflects revenue you actually collect.
- Customer and revenue churn, counted on the day a customer cancels so you see losses when they happen.
- LTV, ARPU, upgrades, downgrades and reactivations, from every subscription's history, from trial to cancellation.
- Net revenue, fees, refunds and failed charges, from each Stripe payment.
- Segments built on your Stripe metadata, which syncs automatically and appears as customer filters (how metadata works).
- Several Stripe accounts in one dashboard, viewed together or separately.

How does the Stripe connection work?
- Click Connect with Stripe in Baremetrics. You need admin access to the Stripe account.
- Authorize Baremetrics in Stripe. Data comes through Stripe's API, so there is nothing to install or export.
- Let the history import. Most accounts import in 5–15 minutes; accounts with a lot of history take longer. Some metrics briefly show 0 while the calculations finish.
- Stay in sync. After the import, Baremetrics updates in real time whenever there is activity on your Stripe account.
- Adjust optional data settings to match how you bill: Historical Plan Price, Cancel at Period End, Ignore Voided Invoices, Ignore Uncollectable Invoices, Send Invoice as Active (for net 60/90 terms), Destination Charges, Ignore Proration and Multiple Payment Attempts.
To disconnect, open Data Connections, find Stripe and click Disconnect. New data stops syncing and the residual data is removed within a few hours.
What are the limits of the Stripe integration?
- Your numbers won't match Stripe's dashboard exactly, by design. Customers count as active only with a paid invoice, coupons and discounts are removed from MRR, cancellations count the moment they happen, and customers unpaid for 30 days or more are removed. You can include open invoices, keep cancellations active until the period ends, or extend the unpaid window to 60 days. Why Baremetrics doesn't match Stripe.
- Paused subscriptions count as churned, then reappear as reactivations when payments resume.
- Only one coupon can be active per subscription.
- Subscriptions created on behalf of connected accounts (in Stripe Connect setups) are excluded.
- You need to be a Stripe admin to connect the account.
- Combined sources blend together. When you add other billing sources, not every graph can be broken out by individual source.

Frequently Asked Questions
Connect Stripe to Baremetrics. Once you authorize the connection as a Stripe admin, Baremetrics imports your subscription history and calculates MRR from customers with paid invoices, with coupons and discounts removed. MRR then updates in real time as Stripe activity comes in, alongside ARR, churn and LTV. You can see an example in the live MRR demo.
It depends how much you rely on subscription metrics. Baremetrics is built for them: it calculates MRR, churn, LTV and dozens of other metrics with consistent rules, segments them by your Stripe metadata, and adds tools to act on churn such as Recover and Cancellation Insights. For a side-by-side view, see Stripe Analytics vs Baremetrics.
Yes. Baremetrics can combine several Stripe accounts with data from Braintree, Chargebee, Recurly, the App Store, Google Play and Shopify Partners. It also syncs Stripe revenue data such as MRR and LTV into HubSpot contacts through the HubSpot integration, and your metrics are available through the Baremetrics API.
Most Stripe accounts import within 5–15 minutes. Accounts with a lot of historical data can take longer. After the import, Baremetrics runs its calculations, so some metrics may show 0 for a short time.
Baremetrics doesn't aim to match Stripe's totals exactly. It counts customers as active only when they have a paid invoice, removes coupons and discounts from MRR, counts cancellations the moment they happen, and removes customers who have been unpaid for 30 days or more. Each of these rules has an optional setting if your billing works differently. Read more about MRR differences.
Yes. Stripe metadata syncs automatically. In the Customers section, add a filter and type Stripe to see the fields Baremetrics brings in, then use them to build segments.
