New Metric: Failed Charges

Josh Pigford on February 20, 2014

Failed charges are the thorn in the side of any SaaS business. You count on having relatively predictable income and then all of the sudden, a slew of your customer’s cards start expiring or their bank is in a bad mood and decides to decline the charge for no particular reason.

Chances are, your customer doesn’t even know their card failed and they actually would love to stay your customer. So, it’s important to stay on top of those failed charges.

Today, we’ve made that task easier for you with the launch of the Failed Charges metric!

See all of your Failed Charges along with why they failed, how much the charge was for and if the issue has been resolved (ie. the customer updated their billing info).

This works alongside wonderfully with the Live Stream feature launched yesterday which would show you in real-time if a card was declined, allowing you to address the issue immediately.

Josh is most famous as the founder of Baremetrics. However, long before Baremetrics and until today, Josh has been a maker, builder, and entrepreneur. His career set off in 2003 building a pair of link directories, ReallyDumbStuff and ReallyFunArcade. Before he sold those for profits, he had already started his next set of projects. As a design major, he began consulting on web design projects. That company eventually morphed into Sabotage Media, which has been the shell company for many of his projects since. Some of his biggest projects before Baremetrics were TrackThePack, Deck Foundry, PopSurvey, and Temper. The pain points he experienced as PopSurvey and Temper took off were the reason he created Baremetrics. Currently, he's dedicated to Maybe, the OS for your personal finances.
